Litton Das became the first Bangladeshi batter to complete 2000 runs in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) despite failing to play a big innings in the ongoing first Test against at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The wicketkeeper-batter reached the milestone during his 33-run knock in Bangladesh's first innings of the Test.

Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim stands second among Bangladeshi batters in WTC run-scoring charts with 1876 runs. Mushfiqur contributed 71 runs in the first innings of the Mirpur Test.

However, Mushfiqur enjoys a better batting average than Litton in the championship. Litton averages 37.20, while Mushfiqur has maintained an average of 43.62.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto with 1650 runs is third on the list, followed by Mominul Haque (1594 runs) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1324 runs).

Shanto also struck a century in the ongoing Test, making 101 runs for his fifth hundred in the World Test Championship. He has the highest number of centuries in WTC by a Bangladeshi batter, so far, Liton and Mushfiqur have four centuries each.

Mominul has three centuries under his belt while Miraz hit just one.

Mominul narrowly missed out on a century after being dismissed for 91 on the opening day, while Miraz scored 10 runs in the first innings.

The ICC World Test Championship was introduced in 2019. England batter Joe Root is leading the batting chart with 6480 runs.     "BSS
