Masud shown arrested in laundering case

A Dhaka court on Monday showed retired Lt Gen Masud Uddin Chowdhury arrested in a Banani Police Station case filed over alleged money laundering involving more than Tk 100 crore collected from workers sent to Malaysia.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order in the afternoon.

According to the case statement, between August 18, 2016 and May 30, 2024, a total of 9,372 workers were sent to Malaysia after being charged Tk 150,000 each instead of the government-fixed fee of Tk 78,990.
