Organised by the Islamic University Science Club, the event marked the first-ever international rated chess tournament in the history of Islamic University.

A total of 74 players from different parts of the country took part in the intellectually charged contest, which was sponsored by Morning Glory Chess Club. The tournament turned the campus into a lively chess arena, where every move on the board carried the weight of strategy and precision.

Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University, Professor Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, attended as chief guest and formally inaugurated the tournament. In his address, he highlighted the importance of chess in developing students' intellect, discipline and analytical ability.

President of Morning Glory Chess Club Dr Ratan Kumar Pal and IUSC President Junaidul Mustafa were also present at the programme.

After a fiercely contested battle across the boards, Jadunath Biswas emerged champion. Abu Hanif finished as first runner-up, while Syed Mahfuzur Rahman secured the second runner-up position.

The tournament was coordinated by female chess player and organiser Nowrin Fatema Toya, who expressed satisfaction at successfully staging such a landmark event.
