A day-long international policy seminar titled "Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education Institutions" was held on Wednesday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka.
The event was jointly organised by the University of Dhaka, the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), the Ministry of Education, KOICA, and the KPC Consortium. The opening session was chaired by DU Treasurer Professor Dr M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, where speakers underscored the importance of entrepreneurship as a key strategy to address unemployment among graduates.
Experts at the seminar said Bangladesh continues to produce a large number of unemployed university graduates and stressed the need to shift the focus of higher education towards skills development and innovation.
They also urged universities to play a stronger role in transforming students from job seekers into job creators by promoting entrepreneurship-oriented learning environments and practical training.
