
Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) emerged champions in the Bangladesh Inter-University Women's Football Competition 2026, while hosts University of Chittagong (CU) finished runners-up in the tournament held at the A.F. Rahman Hall ground on Thursday.
The University of Dhaka secured third place in the competition, which featured participation from five universities across the country.
The prize-giving ceremony was attended by CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan as the chief guest. He distributed trophies and awards among the winners and congratulated both the champions and participating teams.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shamim Uddin described football as one of the world's most popular sports and said games and sports help promote discipline, regularity and patriotism alongside physical fitness.
Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr. Mohammad Saleh Jahur attended the programme as special guest and also conveyed greetings to the participants and organisers.
The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, manager of the CU football team and a professor at the Institute of Marine Sciences. In his remarks, he congratulated the winners and thanked all participating teams, expressing hope that such competitions would continue in the future.
A.F. Rahman Hall Provost Professor Mohammad Alam Chowdhury also addressed the function, while Director of the CU Physical Education Department Habibur Rahman Jalal delivered the welcome speech.
Assistant Proctor Dr. Md. Kamrul Hossain, Chaksu sports secretary Mohammad Shawon, representatives from Chaksu and hall bodies, officials of the Physical Education Department, team managers, players and a large number of students and sports enthusiasts were present at the ceremony.
