Three PDB employees hurt in Kulaura road accident

KULAURA, MOULVIBAZAR, May 14: Three employees of the Power Development Board (PDB) were injured in a road accident in the Chatalgaon area of Kulaura Municipal town on Wednesday night. 

They are lineman Harun Ali, 58, helper Nanu Mia, 40, and driver Kamrul Islam, 30. Among them, Harun Ali has been admitted to the ICU of a Sylhet hospital.

Executive Engineer of the PDB's Kulaura Sales and Distribution Department Md Shahadat Hossain confirmed this on Thursday afternoon.

He said that the three employees were returning home on foot from office at 11:30 pm. At that time, a speeding CNG-powered auto-rickshaw hit them from behind in the Chatalgaon area. Locals quickly rescued them and took them to the hospital, while doctors sent Harun Ali to Sylhet for better treatment. 

He further said that locals handed over the CNG driver to the police through a PDB officer but the police released him afterwards. Being aggrieved, the PDB officer left the police station without filing any complaint.

Officer-in-Charge of Kulaura Police Station Moniruzzaman Molla said, "The driver along with the CNG was not officially handed over to us. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint."
