Two killed in road accidents in 2 districts

Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Narayanganj and Naogaon districts in two days.

SONARGAON, NARAYANGANJ: A land officer of Gopaldi Municipality of Araihazar Upazila of the district, who was going to his workplace riding a motorcycle, was killed after being hit by a truck on the Asian Highway in the Mirertik Bazar area of Jampur Union in Sonargaon Upazila of the district on Thursday morning. 

Deceased Md Anwar Hossain, 58, lived in Masdair area of Narayanganj Sadar Upazila. 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanchpur Highway Police Station (PS) Md Shamim Sheikh said that on his way to Araihazar on a motorcycle, he was hit by a Gausia-bound truck in the Mirertek Bazar, leaving him dead on the spot. The truck driver fled after leaving the truck. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for an autopsy.

Kanchpur Highway PS OC Md Shamim Sheikh added that further legal action is under process in this incident.

PORSHA, NAOGAON: Ramlal Kujur, 40, an ethnic community leader and organising secretary of Porsha Upazila Awami League, was ran over by a Nasimon next to Barendra High School in Chhaor Union of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon. 

He was the former general secretary of the Upazila Jatiya Adibasi Parishad and the son of late Rupchan of Kathpukur Village in Tetulia Union. 

Local sources said that when Ramlal was returning from Naogaon court on a motorcycle and reached the said area, the Nasimon hit him from behind and he fell on the road. The vehicle went over his head and he died on the spot. 

Porsha PS OC Ziaur Rahman said that the body has been recovered and sent to the morgue for an autopsy. 

In this connection, his brother Joges Sardar filed a complaint with the PS against Shirul, 35, son of Dukhu Mia of Chaudanga Village in Gomastapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj District. Following this, the accused has been arrested and the Nasimon has been seized.
