Kings reclaim BFL title

Bashundhara Kings reclaimed the Bangladesh Football League(BFL) title after defeating Abahani Limited Dhaka by 2-0 goals held at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium on Friday, securing the title with one match still remaining in the season.

Brazilian forward Doriellton and midfielder Sohel Rana scored in the second half to seal a decisive victory in what was effectively a title-deciding clash in the 17th round of the league.

The equation before kick-off was straightforward: a win for Kings would confirm the title, while Abahani needed victory to keep their title hopes alive. Bashundhara Kings left no room for suspense, dominating the latter stages of the match and celebrating another league triumph after scoring twice within a span of two minutes.

Since joining the country's top-flight football league in 2018, Bashundhara Kings have established themselves as a dominant force in domestic football, previously winning five consecutive league titles.

Their streak was interrupted last season when Mohammedan Sporting Club lifted the championship for the first time. However, Mohammedan had already fallen out of contention earlier this season.

Kings entered the match holding a narrow one-point advantage over Abahani. Although a draw would still have left Abahani in a difficult position, Kings avoided any late-season complications by securing all three points.    "BSS
