2 killed, 5 injured in Gaibandha road accident

 
GAIBANDHA, May 19: Two people, including an easy bike driver, were killed and at least five others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an easy bike in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila on Tuesday morning.

The accident took place around 9:00am at the Thakur Dighi-Kumarpara area under Lakshmipur union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Farid Mia, 35, son of Pata Mia, an easy bike driver from Chatnabarir area under Sripur union of Sundarganj upazila, and Rustam Ali, 40, son of Masudar Rahman of Dakshin Analer Tari village in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila.

Farid Mia and Rustam Ali died on the spot.

At least five other passengers were injured in the crash. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital. Hospital sources said several of them are in critical condition.
