
KHULNA, May 21: Caritas Bangladesh Khulna Region organised two important trainings under the DIDRM CALL Programme in Caritas Khulna Regional Office, focusing on disability inclusive disaster management and inclusive social safety net services.
These trainings were held from May 17 to 20, 2026. The programme engaged 26 participants, including eight persons with disabilities, from Sutarkhali (Dacope) and Maharajpur (Koyra).
Each training ran for two days, strengthening the capacity of Disaster Management Committee members to promote inclusive resilience.
The sessions were inaugurated by Albino Nath, Regional Director of Caritas Khulna Region, with notable guests including Md. Abu Taleb, Additional Director of Social Welfare & Md. Masudur Rahman, Social Service Officer, Khulna, Professors Ismail Hossain of KUET's Disaster Management Department facilitated knowledge-sharing on the SoD, DM Act, Sendai Framework and Social Safety Net services.
Tanjeena Saiful, Disability Inclusion Officer from CBMG, Pobitro Kumar Mondol, Project Coordinator from DRR-CCA Project, Subroto Mollick, Project Manager of DIDRM CALL Programme and Antony Polock Halder, MEAL Officer of DIDRM CALL Programme from Caritas Khulna Region also facilitated sessions for inclusive Disaster Preparedness and Social Safety Net protection.
This initiative highlighted the importance of ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left behind in disaster preparedness and social protection efforts.
