KCC fixes 140 spots for slaughtering sacrificial animals

KHULNA, May 24: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authorities have fixed 140 spots under 31 wards in the city for slaughtering sacrificial animals during holy Eid-ul-Azha.

"As per the direction of the Local Government Division, we are preparing for slaughtering sacrificial animals at all fixed spots. The list of the spots has already been sent to the Ministry last week," KCC officials said on Sunday.

KCC's Chief Conservancy Officer Md Anisur Rahman said, "At least 62 vehicles of KCC will be engaged in removing the animal waste before 10pm on Eid Day. Besides, vehicles will patrol the roads until 10pm on the same day for total cleaning of city roads." 

"Each of 16 units of KCC will work in each ward to remove waste," he said, adding, "KCC will provide around 4,500 kg bleaching powder and around 400 litres of Savlon for cleaning."

"The designated slaughtering grounds will have butchers, cleaning staff and an Imam to conduct the slaughtering of animals. Everyone should sacrifice animals on the 140 designated spots," he added.

Veterinary Surgeon Dr Peru Gopal said, slaughtering and cleaning materials will be deployed in the spots and awareness campaign will be continued till Eid night. Besides, Tk 5,000 were distributed to the secretary in each KCC ward for cleaning purpose, he said, adding that a total of 10,000 environment friendly bags will be distributed to the city-dwellers for garbage cleaning purpose.
