FAKIRHAT, BAGERHAT, Aug 30: The number of dengue patients has suddenly increased in Fakirhat Upazila of the district, leading to a shortage of test kits at the local health complex. In response, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Rokonuzzaman provided 800 NS1 dengue test kits to the Fakirhat Health Complex.
The kits were handed over on Sunday morning at the UNO’s office to Dr Tanvir Mahmud Anik, resident medical officer of the Upazila Health Complex.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer Imrul Kayes, Sanitary Inspector Debraj Mitra, Certificate Assistant Nitya Ranjan Saha and others were present.
According to officials, 17 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment at the health complex, including 10 new patients diagnosed in the past 24 hours.
Many patients with complications have been admitted to hospitals and clinics in Khulna and Dhaka. Two people in the upazila have so far died from dengue.
UNO Md Rokonuzzaman said the number of dengue patients at the health complex is increasing steadily, prompting the upazila administration to provide 800 test kits.
