Singra Upazila admin stands by fire victim family

SINGRA, NATORE, Aug 30: The Singra Upazila administration has come forward to support a family affected by a fire caused by an electrical short circuit.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nishat Anjum visited the home of affected farmer Shahidul Islam in Agpara Village under Sherkol Union on Saturday afternoon, and distributed rice, lentils, cooking oil, and other dry food items to the family.

At that time, former general secretary of Union BNP Zainal Abedin, former joint convener of the Union BNP Mahir Ali Sheikh, Joint Convener of Ward No. 6 BNP Yunus Sarkar, Joint Convener of the Union Swechchhasebak Dal Jahangir Hossain, Juba Dal leader Abdul Mannan, Union Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Shihab Uddin Shanto, Joint Convener Shuvo Ahmed, and others were present.

According to local sources, a fire broke out at around 11pm last Thursday at Shahidul Islam’s home in Agpara Village and caused damages worth about Tk 3 lakh. 

AC (Land) Nishat Anjum said the upazila administration has extended support to the family following instructions from local MP Principal Anwarul Islam. Dry food items have already been distributed, and corrugated iron sheets and financial assistance will be provided to the family soon.
