Save Dhaka's canals

Dear Sir,

Dhaka is a densely populated city. Over the past few years, the city's population has increased at a rapid rate. However, while the population continues to grow, education and public awareness have not kept pace. This becomes evident when looking at the condition of Dhaka's canals.

Dhaka has a large number of canals. Unfortunately, widespread public negligence is increasingly affecting these waterways. Disposing of household waste and industrial waste indiscriminately has become a common habit. Many residents of Dhaka are also filling up canals to construct houses and various other structures.

If the government and local authorities do not take strict action, canal encroachment will continue to worsen. Alongside waterlogging, various diseases will also spread.
