Lightning strikes kill 4 in two districts

Separate lightning strikes killed 4 and injured five in Mymensingh, Gaibandha  districts in two days. 

MYMENSINGH: Two people, including a college teacher, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Muktagachha and Gafargaon upazilas of the district on Thursday afternoon.

According to local sources, ASM Khalekul Azad, 56, a resident of Raghunathpur Rouarchar Village in Baragram Union of Muktagachha Upazila and an assistant professor of the mathematics department at Gabtoli Degree College, was struck by lightning and was seriously injured. On the other hand, Siam, 18, son of Rukun Uddin of Lamkain Village in Panchbag Union of Gafargaon Upazila, was killed by lightning and was seriously injured. He was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead.

GAIBANDHA: A mother and son, who were hit by lightning strikes and were seriously injured at Mandura Daspara Village under Saghata Upazila of the district on Wednesday evening, died at Gaibandha General Hospital on the same night. 

The deceased were Sreemoti Kalpona Rani, wife of Shoilen Chandra Das and their son Shohag Chandra Das of the village.
