Defending world champions Argentina delivered another commanding performance in their World Cup preparations, taking a 2-0 lead against Honduras in an international friendly at Texas, United States, on Saturday.

With 73 minutes played, Lionel Scaloni's side were firmly in control after dominating possession and creating a series of attacking opportunities from the outset.

Argentina broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martínez converted from the penalty spot after sustained pressure on the Honduran defence. The Albiceleste carried the one-goal advantage into the halftime break.

The South Americans returned from the interval with renewed intensity and doubled their lead in the 54th minute. Martínez turned provider this time, setting up striker Giuliano Simeone, who finished clinically to make it 2-0.

Several key players, including Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández, remained on the bench for the match. Despite their absence, Argentina's attacking unit continued to impress, underlining the squad's depth ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Scaloni's men looked comfortable throughout the contest and showed little sign of easing off as they continued their preparations for the global showpiece.
