Reports are circulating through the internet claiming the Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos’s conversion to Islam; however, those reports lack official confirmation.

Despite claims of Turkish media outlets regarding Carlos’s conversion, no official statement has been issued by Roberto Carlos or his representatives regarding this matter.

Turkish news outlet Haberler and several other newspapers claimed the 53-year-old former Real Madrid player recited the Shahada four weeks ago. He allegedly met Sheikh Jihad Hamada, a prominent figure in Brazil's Muslim community.

Rumours intensified after Ali Sahin, a Turkish Member of Parliament from the ruling AK Party, posted on X. Sahin stated he met Sheikh Jihad Hamada at the Brazilian Charitable Union of Muslim Youth in Sao Paulo.

According to Sahin, Sheikh Hamada informed him that former Fenerbahce star Roberto Carlos had been in contact with him for a long time. Carlos visited him four weeks ago and embraced Islam by reciting the Shahada.

The Turkish MP extended his best wishes to Roberto Carlos and his family for a peaceful, healthy, and blessed life.

Meanwhile, international media also reported Carlos's marriage to Spanish citizen of Moroccan origin, Souhaila Al Taheri. Photos of their wedding recently went viral on social media platforms.

Souhaila Al Taheri is a FIFA-licensed football agent. She works in player career management and various sports projects.

Reports suggest their professional connection gradually turned into a personal relationship. News of their marriage first surfaced in January, following a private ceremony on July 25 attended by family and close friends.

Images from the ceremony recirculated on social media on August 17.

Roberto Carlos enjoyed a stellar career with Real Madrid and the Brazil national team. He later played for Turkish club Fenerbahce. He remains widely recognized as one of the greatest defenders in football history.

Despite media reports and statements from Turkish public figures, Roberto Carlos has not made any public declaration. The sports world continues to await an official statement to verify the claims.
