Four more children died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the last 24 hours, official data shows.
During the same period, 1,018 children were infected with measles or displayed symptoms of the virus. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released the updated figures in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.
The health bulletin noted that while four children died with symptoms, no deaths were recorded from confirmed measles during the 24-hour period.
Since March 15, a total of 823 children have died from suspected measles symptoms across the country. Another 99 children lost their lives due to confirmed measles, bringing the combined death toll from measles and related symptoms to 922.
In the last 24 hours, 87 children tested positive for measles, while 931 displayed symptoms. Furthermore, 787 new patients were admitted to hospitals, and 925 children were discharged after recovery.
DGHS records indicate that 145,711 suspected cases and 18,076 confirmed cases have been recorded since March 15. A total of 127,076 patients required hospitalization, of which 122,805 have recovered and returned home.
