The Bangladesh Women's team tasted a 68-run defeat to New Zealand in their first warm-up game of the ICC T20 World Cup at Loughborough in England on Sunday.

Put into bat first, New Zealand batters came down heavily on Bangladesh bowlers to compile a hefty 193-3.

Skipper Melie Kerr led the charge with 28 ball-51 not out, a knock studded with five fours and two sixes. Star opener Suzie Bates made 45 while Izzy Sharp added 46 to pave the platform for skipper Kerr.

Flora Devonshire also contributed with an unbeaten 20 off just eight balls.

For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni claimed 2-36 while Nahida Akter snapped up 1-48.

In pursuit of a big total, Bangladesh crumbled under pressure following a top order collapse. They never recovered from the shaky start and eventually managed to put up 125-8 before conceding a big margin defeat.

Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty was the top-scorer for the side with 32 while Juairiya Ferdous Mou made 26.

Nensi Patel was the standout bowler for New Zealand with 4-18, a bowling spell that triggered Bangladesh collapse.

Bangladesh will take on Ireland on Tuesday for their second and last practice game before the tournament proper.

Bangladesh will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on June 14 before facing Australia, Pakistan, India and South Africa in the group stage.    "BSS
