RAJBARI , June 7: A 10-day training programme aimed at improving the socio-economic condition and skills of marginal professional groups has begun in Rajbari under the "Livelihood Development of Marginal Professionals Project."

The opening ceremony was held at the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in Rajbari Sadar on Saturday, with UNO Nirupama Roy presiding.

Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Abu Saleh Md Ali Ahsan attended the programme as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, he said there is no alternative to skill development for improving the living standards of marginal and disadvantaged communities.

He said the training would help participants acquire new knowledge and skills, enabling them to become self-employed and financially self-reliant, while also contributing to poverty alleviation and sustainable development.

He further said that alongside various government social safety and development programmes, skill development training is playing an effective role in transforming people's livelihoods.

He added that trained individuals would be able to use their knowledge and experience for both personal improvement and community development.

The programme was conducted by Sadar Upazila Social Services Officer Taslim Arif Biswas, while trainer Toufiq Islam conducted the sessions.

Around 30 representatives from different marginal professional groups in the upazila are participating in the training.
Organisers said the 10-day course will provide hands-on training in various income-generating activities to help participants improve their livelihoods in the future.
