Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) maintains the highest state of alert and a strict stance along the border areas to counter any ill-motivated attempts of massive "push-in" (illegal infiltration) by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) amidst the prevailing situation in the country.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed  on Sunday  said illegal push-ins, border killings and broader border security issues would receive priority attention during the upcoming director general-level conference between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India's Border Security Force (BSF). The four-day conference is scheduled to begin in India's New Delhi on June 8.

"Our BGB men remain on high alert along the frontier. Any attempt of illegal push-ins or unlawful border crossings will be firmly resisted," the home minister said while talking to journalists at his Secretariat office in Dhaka.

Salahuddin also said law enforcement agencies continue to conduct regular operations against crime and narcotics. However, details of that special operation are not disclosed in advance for strategic reasons.  He said that the government is working on modernising legislation related to narcotics control and gambling prevention to eliminate the loopholes that allow the offenders to evade justice.

The minister said the government will continue its policy of rewarding outstanding performance in crime control while taking disciplinary actions against negligence and misconduct.

In Netrakona,  As part of these heightened security measures, manpower has been extensively increased across all border checkpoints and Border Outposts (BOPs) under the jurisdiction of the Netrakona Battalion (31 BGB).

Furthermore, round-the-clock and seamless surveillance has been rigorously intensified to ensure airtight security along the frontier. This information was officially confirmed in a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Towhidul Bari, PSC, Commanding Officer (CO) of the Netrakona Battalion (31 BGB), issued this Friday afternoon.

BGB has been conducting joint preventive patrolling operations alongside local villagers at various times, and crucial border-centric intelligence is being gathered with their active assistance. Concurrently, continuous efforts to collect specific information are underway through BGB's own internal intelligence sources to effectively thwart any push-in attempts.

In Jamalpur. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has initiated strict surveillance along the Jamalpur border to prevent any 'push-in' attempts or illegal infiltration from India into Bangladesh.

Additional vigilance and security measures have been heightened across the 72-kilometer border area covered by 15 Border Outposts (BOPs) under the Jamalpur 35 BGB Battalion. BGB personnel, alongside local residents, were seen intensifying patrols in the frontier areas.

In Habiganj,  Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified security measures along the 103-kilometer frontier in Habiganj to prevent unauthorized entries following an uptick in "push-in" attempts from India. The 55th Battalion of the BGB has implemented round-the-clock patrols and bolstered intelligence operations to secure the border region.

In Naogaon, BGB foiled an alleged BSF push-in attempt involving 17 people through the Hapania border area in Sapahar upazila on Friday morning.

According to the Naogaon 16 BGB Battalion, the incident took place around 7:30am near border pillar 238/MP. BGB sources said personnel from the BSF's Pannachhara camp attempted to push six men, six women and five children into Bangladesh.
