Edu allocation proposed at 2pc of GDP

The government has proposed to allocate Tk1.366 lakh crore to the education sector in the upcoming fiscal year, raising the allocation to 2 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

In the national budget FY2025-26, the allocation for the education sector was Tk 87,206 crore, which was 1.39 per cent of GDP.

The proposed budget is expected to have a total outlay of Tk9.38 lakh crore, making it the largest national budget in Bangladesh's history.
