Patients with 6 major diseases to receive Tk 100,000 annually

The government has proposed doubling financial assistance for patients suffering from six serious illnesses who are unable to afford medical treatment due to financial hardship.

Patients diagnosed with cancer, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, paralysis resulting from stroke, congenital heart disease, and thalassemia will receive a one-time financial grant of Tk 100,000, up from the current Tk 50,000.

The increased assistance will be provided once a year and is intended to help ease the treatment burden on patients and their families.
