State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain on Friday stressed the need to prioritise technology-driven solutions to address national challenges, highlighting the role of artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy and innovation in ensuring sustainable developments.

He made this remark while speaking at the “Startup, Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing Program” held at Kishorilal Jubilee School and College in the capital’s Sutrapur area.

State minister said AI-based traffic signal and camera systems are being introduced in different parts of the capital to identify vehicles and enforce traffic laws.

These technologies will improve traffic management, he added underscoring the need for their further development and expansion.

Referring to the energy sector, he said the instability in the Middle East has put pressure on global oil and gas supplies, adding in this context, greater use of renewable energy, particularly solar power, can help strengthen the country’s energy security.

He also stressed the importance of expanding the use of electric vehicles to reduce air pollution.

Urging students to focus on science and technology education and actively engage in innovation and research, he said the government will accord the highest priority to the science and technology sector in the future.

Officials from the education administration and representatives of various educational institutions were present at the event.
