Compassion Bangladesh aids flood victims in Ruma

Compassion International Bangladesh, through its local partners, distributed emergency relief among 58 flood-affected families in Ruma upazila of Bandarban on Monday, aiming to ease the suffering of people impacted by the recent floods.

The relief distribution programme was organised by the Hill District Child Development Project, Poly Mouza (BD-0507), at Berseba Mission in Thana Para of Ruma upazila.

The event was attended by Al Hasir Gajnofar Ali, an official of the Upazila Agriculture Extension Department, representing the Ruma Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), as the chief guest. The programme was chaired by Jonachandra Tripura, Project Coordinator of Agape, Bandarban. SI Ashikur Rahman, representing the Officer-in-Charge of Ruma Police Station, attended as the special guest.

Each of the 58 beneficiary families received 25 kg of rice, 5 kg of potatoes, 5 litres of mineral water, 2 kg of soybean oil, 1 kg of lentils, 1 kg of salt, a box of oral saline, one Lifebuoy soap and two laundry soaps.

Speakers at the event said humanitarian assistance plays a crucial role in reducing the hardships faced by families affected by the recent floods. They noted that alongside government efforts, support from non-governmental development organisations is vital in helping disaster-stricken communities recover.
