Three students nabbed for ‘killing’ one in Rajshahi

Police have arrested three students on Friday for allegedly killing a young man after suspecting him as a thief on the premises of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Thursday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan Raki, 32, a resident of Hetemkhan Karigarpara area in the city.

The arrested are Atique, Saiyab and Fahim. All of them are students of Rajshahi Nursing College.

Police sources said that some students caught Rakibul on suspicion of theft from Charu Mama’s canteen of the RMCH in the evening, and beat him up with wooden stumps, leaving him critically injured.

The injured was later taken to the RMCH at around 8:30pm, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Following this, police arrested Atique, Saiyab and Fahim on Friday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station (PS) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the incident, adding that a murder case was filed with the PS in this regard.
