In the current global and technology-driven environment, the Special Security Force (SSF) must remain fully prepared to address multidimensional security challenges through modern training, advanced technology and effective security strategies, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said.
Speaking at a programme marking the 40th founding anniversary of the SSF at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday, he said that as a specialised security force, there is no room for the SSF to lag behind in courage, professionalism, expertise and technological capability.
He also inaugurated a newly constructed state-of-the-art firing range and urged its optimal use to further enhance the skills of SSF personnel.
The Prime Minister said that while ensuring the security of the head of government, the SSF must also give due importance to maintaining the normal daily lives of citizens.
He emphasised that security measures should not isolate the Prime Minister from the people and urged the force to remain mindful of this issue.
Tarique Rahman further said that the security of the state and government leadership, as well as other important dignitaries, is closely linked to national security. He stressed the need to strengthen security arrangements through greater coordination with other law enforcement agencies, intelligence organisations and relevant institutions.
Addressing SSF members, he urged them to ensure that members of the public do not face any form of misconduct while security duties are being carried out. Calling for patriotism, discipline and the highest level of professionalism, he assured continued government support to further develop the SSF into a more modern and efficient security force.
