British, Chinese envoys call on PM

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen separately paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen congratulated Bangladesh on the election of Dr. Khalilur Rahman as President of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly for 2026"2027.

The Prime Minister and the Chinese envoy discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. They also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, technical and vocational education, and enhancing people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.

In a separate meeting, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke discussed Bangladesh-United Kingdom bilateral relations, trade and investment with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
