Seven more die from measles, measles-related symptoms

The measles outbreak continues across Bangladesh. In the past 24 hours, seven more children died from measles and measles-related symptoms. 
With these latest deaths, the total number of fatalities from measles and measles-related symptoms nationwide since the beginning of this year has risen to 677.

This information was provided in the latest situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

According to the report, 887 new cases of measles and measles-related symptoms were recorded during the past 24-hour period from 8:00am Friday to 8:00am Saturday. Among them, measles infection was confirmed through testing in 80 individuals.

In addition, the Directorate General of Health Services reported that the remaining 807 individuals exhibited various symptoms of measles.

Of the seven deaths reported in the last 24 hours due to measles-related symptoms, six occurred in Dhaka, while one death was reported in Barishal.

According to government data, since March 15, 2026, a total of 584 children died in the country with measles-related symptoms. Meanwhile, another 93 people died after being definitively diagnosed with measles.

From March 15 of this year until now, 91,789 children nationwide have shown various symptoms of measles. Among them, 10,949 cases have been confirmed as measles infections.

The Directorate General of Health Services stated that, among the affected patients, 75,902 have been admitted to hospitals across the country with symptoms so far. On the other hand, 71,970 patients have recovered after receiving treatment and returned home.
