Vaibhav Sooryavanshi broke the List A record for the fastest half-century by touching the 50-run mark in merely 11 deliveries against Sri Lanka A in the ti-nation final taking place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday.

Sooryavanshi capped off his knock at 94 runs off 29 deliveries, hammering 10 fours and eight sixes to put the Men in Blue in pole position in the summit clash of a tournament that he struggled to amass runs in earlier.

Opening the batting with Priyansh Arya, Sooryavanshi got off to a cracker of a start by bagging a boundary off the very first delivery that he faced in the innings.

The southpaw reached the 50-run mark in trademark style, as he struck five fours and sixes each to complete the milestone.

Mohamed Shiraz and Sahan Arachchige bore the brunt of the teenager's early onslaught, as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) star ended up getting India A to a commanding total of 132 in nine overs itself.

Sooryavanshi had come to this tournament on the back of a tremendous IPL season, where he won the Orange Cap, the Emerging Player of the Year, and also the Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.

He also earned a maiden India call-up for the tours of Ireland and England, beginning later this month.

However, the batter ended up flattering to deceive for the major chunk of this ti-nation series. He got a few starts, but was unable to convert them into big and impactful totals. Earlier this week, he got engaged in a physical tussle with Sri Lankan players after they gave him a sending off following India's Super Over loss in a league-stage game.

Sooryavanshi copped a lot of criticism for the same, but he has bounced back ins style and ensured that he enters his first India assignment riding on a strong performance.
