
RAJBARI, June 22: A “Parents’ Assembly and Fruit Festival-2026” was held at Collectorate School in Rajbari Sadar on Monday, aiming to build awareness among students about seasonal local fruits, improve nutrition knowledge and highlight the country’s fruit heritage.
The colourful event was organised on the school premises with participation of students, guardians, teachers and guests, turning the campus into a lively venue.
Rajbari Deputy Commissioner Afroza Parvin attended the programme as the chief guest. The event was chaired by head teacher Syed Siddiqur Rahman.
Special guests included Additional Deputy Commissioners Tarif ul Hasan and Shankar Chandra Baidya, Rajbari Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nirupoma Roy, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Payra Chowdhury and Assistant Commissioner Mizanur Rahman.
Various stalls displaying seasonal local fruits were set up on the campus. Students presented information on nutritional value, health benefits and the importance of fruit cultivation in front of guests.
Speaking at the event, the DC said seasonal fruit festivals are an integral part of national life and play an important role in familiarising children with local fruits and promoting healthy eating habits.
She said students should not be limited to textbook-based learning only, but also be engaged in practical knowledge, nutrition awareness and cultural values.
“If interest in local fruits increases, it will not only improve children’s nutrition but also benefit local farmers,” she added.
Other speakers said fruits are not only delicious but also an essential source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients for the human body. They stressed the need for joint efforts by families and educational institutions to develop healthy fruit-eating habits among children and adolescents.
Later, guests visited different stalls and enjoyed cultural performances staged by students, including dances and presentations highlighting information about fruits.
