Reshuffle In Police

21 officers reassigned, transferred

In a major move, the government has carried out a wide-ranging reshuffle in senior ranks of police, transferring 21 officers at several key units, including Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Highway Police.

In a notification issued on Sunday with immediate effect, the ministry of home  affair   reassigned seven Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), eight Additional DIGs and five Superintendents of Police (SPs), alongside an additional inspector general of police.
 
Additional IGP Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain has been appointed as CID chief and  Additional IGP Faruk Ahmed as chief of Highway Police.

The posts of heads of these two key police units had remained vacant for a long time. Under the same order, Md. Moniruzzaman-promoted to the rank of Additional IGP-has been posted to Police Telecom, while Md. Mushfequr Rahman has been posted to Police Headquarters.

The notification also details a major reshuffle among officers holding the rank of DIG. DIG Proloy Chisim has been transferred as Commandant of the Noakhali Police Training Centre (PTC), while CID DIG Mia Masud Karim has been moved to the APBn's . Additionally, Mohammad Osman Gani, Additional Police Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has been appointed as Commandant of the Rangpur PTC, and AKM Mosharraf Hossain Miaji, DIG of the Special Branch, has been assigned as DIG of the Khulna PTC.

 Md. Asaduzzaman, Additional DIG at Police Headquarters, has been transferred to RAB, while AKM Akhtaruzzaman, Additional DIG of the Special Branch, has been transferred to Police Headquarters. Md. Kutub Uddin, Commander of the 2nd APBn in Muktagacha, has been assigned to Police Headquarters, and Md. Al Mamun, Additional Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, has been appointed as the Commander of the 2nd APBn.

Additional DIG of Highway Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser has been posted as Commandant of the Betbunia PSTS in Rangamati; Additional DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit Mohammad Muhibul Islam Khan to the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah; Additional DIG of Naval Police Md. Abdul Warish to the Rangpur PTS; and Additional Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan has been attached to the Barishal Range DIG office.

The notification also assigns new duties to five officers holding the ranks of Special SP and SP.  Kazi Ehsanul Kabir, Special SP of Police-CID, has been transferred to Police Headquarters, while Md. Jahidur Rahman, Special SP-Special Branch, has been transferred to the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah.

Salma Syed Poly, SP of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, has been assigned to the Rangpur Range.  Md. Shahidul Islam, commandant of the In-Service Training Centre, and Md. Kamruzzaman, SP of Police Telecom, have been attached to the office of the Barishal Range DIG.
