Government employees will have the opportunity to enjoy a five-day extended vacation during Durga Puja next month with just one day of managed leave.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration holiday calendar, official public holidays for Durga Puja will begin on October 20 with an executive order holiday for Maha Navami, followed by a general holiday on October 21 for Vijaya Dashami.
If public servants manage to secure an optional or casual leave for Thursday, October 22, it will merge seamlessly with the standard weekend on Friday and Saturday, allowing a five-day continuous break through October 24.
Hindu employees will additionally have access to two days of optional holiday for the festival, subject to usual official approvals.
The official celebrations for Durga Puja will commence on October 10 with Mahalaya. The principal rituals will take place from October 16 to October 21.
