The carcass of a 58-foot-long Baleen whale was found washed ashore on the Kuakata Beach in Patuakhali on Monday, just 26 days after another giant whale was found dead along the coast.

Locals spotted the partially decomposed carcass in the morning in Kawar Char area of the beach and informed environmental activists.

After receiving the information, officials from Forest Department and local administration visited the site and took steps to bury the carcass.
Earlier, on June 3, another 58-foot-long dead Baleen whale washed ashore in Jhaubon area of the beach.

The repeated appearance of dead marine animals, including dolphins, turtles and whales, along the Kuakata coast has raised concerns among environmentalists.

They called for scientific research to determine the reasons behind the recurring deaths of marine wildlife and urged the authorities to preserve the whale’s skeleton for research and public display to raise awareness among tourists and visitors.
