Detective Branch (DB) of Police, in separate drives, arrested three people along with phensedyl, hemp and locally-made liquor from Tongi Upazila in Gazipur on Sunday night.
It was known that on information, a team of DB police conducted separate drives in Bank Math Slum and Gopalpur areas of Tongi, and arrested three people along with 66 bottles of phensedyl, 11 packets of hemp and four litres of locally-made liquor. The law enforcers also seized 46 mobile phone sets and Tk39,000 in cash from the possession of the arrestees.
Additional Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Mohammad Belayet Hossain confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) conducted another anti-drug drive in Haji Mazar Slum area on the same night. During the drive lasted from evening until around 10pm, the elite force members discovered a secret underground tunnel allegedly built and used by drug traffickers, though they could not be able to arrest anyone at that time.
RAB-1 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Neyamul Halim confirmed the drive.
