Stop corruption in road maintenance

Dear Sir,

Roads play a vital role in a country's development. Therefore, it is essential to remain committed to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of road infrastructure. Recently, road repair and rehabilitation projects have been completed in several parts of the country, while many others are still underway.

However, it is regrettable that in some cases, the quality of road repairs appears to be far below the expected standard. There are allegations that concrete layers have been laid much thinner than the specified thickness, causing the surface to deteriorate within a very short time. Similarly, concerns have been raised that reinforcing steel bars of smaller diameters than those required by the approved design have sometimes been used. In some reported cases, even bamboo has allegedly been used in place of proper construction materials. Such practices, if true, represent serious corruption and severely compromise the quality, durability, and safety of public infrastructure. As a result, the allocated budget may not be utilized effectively.

I appeal for strict monitoring, accountability, and decisive action to eliminate all forms of corruption in road maintenance and construction so that public funds are used properly and durable, high-quality roads can be built for the benefit of the nation.
