CHATTOGRAM, June 30: An initiative has been taken to establish a campus of the University of Birmingham, one of the United Kingdom’s renowned higher education institutions, in Chattogram. The necessary procedures have already begun, and preparations are underway to launch the campus soon.

The initiative is being implemented by System Group.

Speaking on the development, Md Fazlul Azim, Chairman of System Group, said that expanding access to world-class higher education in Bangladesh has become increasingly important in the current global context.

He noted that alongside local educational institutions, internationally renowned universities can play a significant role in strengthening the country’s higher education sector.

“Our main objective is to bring global standards to higher education,” he said. “Once the University of Birmingham campus is established in Chattogram, Bangladeshi students will be able to receive internationally recognised education without having to go abroad.”

Md Fazlul Azim said that the University of Birmingham has given its consent to System Group to initiate the formal process of establishing the campus in Chattogram. Preparatory work and other necessary formalities are currently underway.

He expressed hope that the initiative would open up new opportunities for Bangladesh’s higher education sector and make world-class education more accessible within the country.
