Spanish envoy meets Jamaat chief 

A courtesy meeting was held between Leader of Opposition in parliament and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and Spain's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, on Sunday at the former's office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 11:30 am.

The meeting marked the ambassador's first official call on Dr Shafiqur Rahman since he assumed office as the Leader of the Opposition. It was held in a warm, cordial and friendly atmosphere.

They exchanged views on Bangladesh's overall political and economic situation following the national election, the recently passed national budget, and ways to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Spain. They also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, development partnership and other areas of mutual interest, which received priority.
