Jamaat-e-Islami's Dhaka South unit staged a protest rally in the capital on Sunday against what it described as extortion, land grabbing, and attacks on traders.

The demonstration, organised under the banner of the Anti-Extortion, Anti-Land Grabbing and Anti-Terrorism Committee, was held at Gulistan and ended at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque premises in the capital. The protest came a day after Jamaat alleged that its procession had been attacked by local activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on July 4. Following the incident, Jamaat leaders and activists gathered beneath the Fulbaria Flyover to protest against the alleged attack.
