Bangladesh put Zimbabwe under early pressure with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, reducing the visitors to three wickets down after a dramatic collapse.

The breakthrough came via a run-out as openers Ben Curran and Brian Bennett attempted a risky second run after pushing the ball towards mid-off. Mehidy Hasan Miraz produced a direct hit to catch one of the batters short of the crease, ending the opening stand.

Bangladesh struck again on the very next delivery when Taskin Ahmed forced Bennett to edge a catch after the opener had scored 17 off 24 balls.

Taskin then delivered another decisive blow by clean bowling Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine with the first ball he faced. The wicket left Zimbabwe reeling, having lost three wickets for just two runs.

At the end of seven overs, Zimbabwe were 36 for 3.
