
PABNA, July 6: A cheque distribution ceremony among patients suffering from six types of incurable diseases, including cancer and kidney-related complications, was held at Alhaj Ahed Ali Trust in Pabna Sadar on Monday morning under the initiative of the National Social Welfare Council.
The chief guest of the function was Pabna-5 MP Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas.
The special guests were Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aminul Islam and Superintendent of Police (SP) Sufi Ullah. The ceremony was presided over by Pabna Social Services Department Deputy Director A. Quader.
At the ceremony, cheques of 50 thousand taka each were distributed among 49 patients suffering from six types of incurable diseases, totalling 24 lakh 50 thousand taka, and cheques of 10 thousand taka each were distributed among 200 needy families, totalling 20 lakh taka.
The event was moderated by former general secretary of Pabna Press Club Akhinur Islam Remon, and other speakers included BNP leaders KM Musa, A.S. Samad Khan Montu, Engineer Wares Uddin, and Hafizur Rahman Royal Biswas.
