The entire country will be brought under complete digitalization as quickly as possible to streamline public and financial services, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Monday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the "Innovation Showcasing 2025-26" event, the minister said the goal is to bring government and financial services directly to citizens' doorsteps, ensuring greater transparency while significantly reducing time, hassle, and travel costs.
The event was organised by the Financial Institutions Division at the Multipurpose Hall of the Finance Division in the Secretariat.
A total of 25 departments and organisations under the Financial Institutions Division showcased 50 innovations aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and customer service in the financial sector.
The minister said the national budget had taken into account all sections of society, including artisans and singers, adding that technology was essential to ensuring inclusive development.
Citing Estonia, where nearly 99 percent of financial transactions are conducted digitally, he said a high-level government delegation is currently visiting the country to study its digital model and instructed officials to adopt international best practices quickly.
He also directed banks and insurance companies to assign dedicated staff to help customers use digital platforms and encourage them to access services online instead of visiting offices in person.
Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek, who presided over the event, said the effective use of technology and small-scale innovations was making government services faster and more accessible while enhancing transparency and reducing corruption.
Five departments received awards in five categories for their innovations. Officials said the Financial Institutions Division has so far digitalised 329 government services across its 25 departments and organisations.
