The government of Bangladesh appointed Md. Anisur Rahman as the new Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank for a three-year contractual basis, replacing Md. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury.
The Financial Institutions Division under the Finance Ministry issued the appointment order on Monday, and it took effect immediately.
Before the appointment, Anisur served as an Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank.
He voluntarily stepped down from that post, while his post-retirement leave (PRL) has been suspended for the duration of the three-year contract. The appointment was made under Article 10(4) of Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972. Other terms of the contract will be determined separately.
