Bangladesh Mohila Krira Parishad President Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla departed for the United Kingdom to participate in the IWG Global Summit on Women and Sport 2026, an international conference focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment in sports.
The three-day summit will be held from July 9, 2026, to July 11, 2026, at International Convention Centre in Birmingham. According to organizers, more than 1,200 delegates, including sports administrators, policymakers, and athletes from around the world, are expected to attend.
Sarwat Siraj also serves as the Vice President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), Director of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP), and Chair of BOA’s Gender Equity Committee.
She was recently appointed as a member of a government committee formed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to work on issues related to the protection, equality, and rights of women in sports.
Before leaving for the summit, Sarwat Siraj said, “The participation and success of women in sports in Bangladesh is now being appreciated worldwide. In addition to highlighting our achievements on this global platform of IWG, we want to apply modern strategies for women’s leadership and legal protection in the world of sports in the context of Bangladesh.”
During the conference, she is scheduled to take part in networking sessions and discussions with international sports policymakers and representatives of Olympic committees from different countries.
