Brazil fan killed in alleged attack by Argentina supporters in Cumilla

A Brazil football supporter was allegedly beaten to death by supporters of Argentina in Cumilla following a brawl while watching the Argentina-Egypt FIFA World Cup match on Tuesday night. 

The incident occurred at night in the Dhanpur area of Durgapur Union under Cumilla Adarsha Sadar upazila.

According to local residents, an argument over football escalated into violence, during which two local Argentina supporters, identified as Babu and Main Uddin Malu, allegedly assaulted Shariful Islam, a Brazil supporter. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Police said the body has been recovered and sent to the morgue at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

"We have sent the body for post-mortem and efforts are underway to arrest those involved in the incident," said Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station OC Touhidul Anwar said.
