Newlywed woman found dead in Hathazari

Police recovered the body of a 19-year-old newly married woman from a rented house in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram on Monday, about two months after her marriage.

The deceased was identified as Sadia Islam, wife of Mohammad Asif of Gahira area in Raozan. She had been living with her husband in a rented house in Fotika area of Hathazari municipality. The couple moved into the house on August 31.

According to family members, Sadia had previously been married, but the marriage ended in divorce due to marital discord. She later married Asif and moved to Hathazari with him. Asif works in Chattogram city.

On Monday afternoon, Asif reportedly failed to contact Sadia by phone and informed the landlord. The landlord went to the house and, after receiving no response, looked through a window and found her hanging from the ceiling fan and unresponsive.

Police were subsequently informed.
