At least 30 people were killed in a deadly clash between Pakistani security forces and armed militants in the country's southwestern Balochistan province. The dead include 11 security personnel and 19 militants, according to security sources cited by Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

The confrontation began after militants reportedly blocked a key highway in the province. Security forces launched an operation to clear the route, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire between the two sides. Security sources said several other militants were also injured during the operation.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks in Balochistan, where security has deteriorated in recent months. A day earlier, nine police personnel were killed in a separate clash with militants in Ziarat district.

Balochistan, Pakistan's largest and mineral-rich province, is a strategic region that hosts a major route of the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The province has long been plagued by insurgent violence, with separatist armed groups frequently targeting security forces and infrastructure.
