A Dhaka court on Thursday placed two Bangladeshi nationals deported from Singapore over suspected links to militant organisations on a three-day police remand.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order after police sought a five-day remand to investigate the alleged involvement of Sahedul Islam(37) and Rishad Tayani,(25), with banned local and international extremist groups.
According to court documents, the two were arrested by Airport Police upon their arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday after being deported by Singaporean authorities, who had detained them on suspicion of militant activities.
Police said three mobile phones and three passports were seized from the suspects. Preliminary interrogation allegedly revealed their involvement with banned extremist organisations while in Singapore.
