
DINAJPUR, July 10: A special income tax training workshop organised by Tax Zone-Dinajpur with the participation of local journalists was held at the conference room of Tax Zone-Dinajpur Head Office in the town on Friday.
Tax Zone-Dinajpur Tax Commissioner Md Hafiz Al Asad chaired the workshop.
The speakers in the workshop discussed in detail the importance of paying income tax, the journey of Dinajpur as a new tax zone, and the undeniable role of the media in increasing taxpayer awareness.
It is worth noting that in the first half of 2025, the largest districts of North Bengal, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh, were separated from the Tax Zone-Rangpur and formed the 'Tax Zone-Dinajpur'. Currently, there are about 3 lakh registered taxpayers in this region of 6,558 square kilometres, who are playing a unique role in the country's economy.
In his speech, Tax Commissioner Md Hafiz Al Asad said that the journalist community is working as a unique partner in the economic prosperity of Dinajpur region and achieving the government's revenue targets. For the convenience of respected taxpayers, professionals and citizens, a special booklet containing the jurisdiction of the tax zone, list of circles and officials and information on source tax is being published, which will further facilitate the receipt of tax services, he also said.
In the workshop, senior officials of the tax department discussed various technical aspects of income tax, return filing procedures and source tax deduction and answered various questions from journalists.
Present at the time were Deputy Commissioner of Taxes (BCS Taxation) of Tax Region-Dinajpur Anupam Das and Inspector of Taxes Md Tariq ul Hasan, and General Secretary of Dinajpur Press Club Golam Nabi Dulal.
