India's struggles in T20 internationals continued as they suffered a 56-run defeat to England in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton, handing the hosts a 4-0 series victory after the opening match was washed out.
Batting first, England piled up a massive 257/3, powered by a stunning 131 off 64 balls from Jos Buttler and an unbeaten 95 off 45 deliveries from captain Harry Brook.
In reply, India managed 201/8 despite fighting half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (56 off 35) and Tilak Varma (53 off 25).
The defeat marked an unwanted milestone for India. Since winning the T20 World Cup, they have now gone seven consecutive completed T20 internationals without a victory their longest winless streak in the format.
It also represents India's first-ever run of six consecutive defeats in completed T20Is. Before the England series, India had already suffered a 2-0 series loss to Ireland.
